European Oak
Our oak is sourced from managed forests and crafted into solid timber furniture. It’s a dense, durable, decay-resistant wood with a pale, open grain that takes fine finishing well. A water-based sealant, natural oil or wash finish preserves its light colour, which deepens naturally over time.
Care - Clean with a damp then dry cloth and use coasters and trivets. Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, air-conditioning and moisture, which can cause yellowing and timber movement.
Reclaimed Teakwood
Golden and amber-toned, teakwood is beautiful, extremely durable, and low-maintenance. All our teak is reclaimed from old buildings, arriving with nails and original paint still intact, then restored into furniture with real history.
Care - Clean regularly with a damp then dry cloth. For extra protection, a topcoat can be added — follow the instructions and test on an inconspicuous area first. Keep away from direct sunlight, high-use areas, and heat, air-conditioning, or moisture exposure, as these can cause discolouration and timber movement.
Black Walnut
is loved for its dark heartwood. Its colour is brown with shades of purple and streaks of gold. The wood is hard and durable yet pleasant to work with, and it forms into the highest quality furniture.
Care - Just like any other timber regular cleaning with damp or dry cloth is advised. Avoid areas in direct contact with sunlight, and areas exposed to direct air-conditioning,
Recycled Boat wood
Kleo purchases retired fishing boats (40-50 years old) from Indonesia's northern coast, freeing the shoreline of waste while giving fishermen extra income. The hardwood is stripped of metal, kiln-dried, and upcycled into furniture, sometimes keeping traces of the boats' original paint.
Care - Sturdy and low-maintenance. Avoid harsh chemicals; wipe with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust or debris.
Rattan
Rattan is a rapidly renewable resource, which makes it a sustainable alternative to slower-growing woods. We weave it into seats and backs, or pair it with oak and teak frames, for a breathable, lightweight and supportive finish. Natural variations in weave and tone are part of each piece’s character.
Care - Wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and moisture.
Marble
Selected tables, consoles and coffee tables pair solid timber bases with natural marble tops, including a cream marble. Each slab has its own veining and tone, so no two tops are identical.
Care - Wipe spills straight away, especially wine, coffee and citrus, which can etch or stain marble. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, avoid vinegar, bleach and abrasives, and use coasters and trivets.
The reclaimed wood used in our production is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC stamp guarantees that our furniture is produced in compliance with standards of sustainable forests and plantation management. Solid wood is dynamic and adapts naturally to the environment. This makes it a durable material that will stand the test of time.
Sustainable Choice
Our upcycled hardwood is sourced from decommissioned fishing vessels in North Java, combined with powdercoated steel and other local materials to create unique, eclectic furniture that reduces our carbon footprint.
We also work with a single supplier obtaining teak discards from a government-managed forest, using a head-to-tail approach to craft rustic accent pieces. Natural flaws are celebrated rather than hidden, so nothing ends up burnt or in landfill.
Across Karpenter, Janish and SLH, we specialise in timber furniture for homes and hospitality spaces, built to be used, repaired and passed on. Join us on the journey.
Finishes & Healthy Homes
We choose finishes that let the timber speak for itself. Our oak is protected with water-based sealants, natural oils or a light wash, and some reclaimed teak pieces are left unfinished so the colour, grain and knots show as they are. Without heavy lacquer, the wood keeps its natural look and feel, and can be touched up or refreshed later.
Solid Timber vs Veneer
Most of our indoor range is solid timber, cut from the same wood through its full thickness. On some pieces, such as large panels and handle-free fronts on Janish storage, we use real oak veneer to keep wide surfaces flat and stable and the lines clean. Solid timber can be sanded and refinished many times, which is why it outlasts most flat-pack alternatives.
Living with Solid Timber
- Every piece is different. Grain, knots and colour vary from plank to plank. These are natural character, not defects.
- Colour evolves. Oak deepens, teak warms and walnut mellows with light and age.
- Timber moves. It expands and contracts slightly with the seasons and humidity. Keep it away from direct sun, heaters and air-conditioning vents.
- Everyday care is simple. Dust regularly, wipe with a damp then dry cloth, use coasters and trivets, and add felt pads under objects.
