On Wednesday 12 August, The Design Tribe brought Sydney’s furniture, interior design and architecture community together in Alexandria for a day centred around new collections, creative exchange and industry connection.
SLH Furniture and Mamagreen Australia had the pleasure of taking part in the event, joining a diverse group of furniture, lighting, textile, art and design brands within the distinctive surrounds of the former Max Brenner factory on Doody Street.
A Day of Design and Discovery
Rather than a traditional trade show, The Design Tribe unfolded across a collection of individual showroom spaces, giving guests the opportunity to move through the precinct at their own pace.
Throughout the day, interior designers, architects, stylists and other industry professionals explored furniture, lighting, textiles, materials and art while meeting the people and brands behind the collections.
For SLH Furniture and Mamagreen, it was an opportunity to showcase both indoor and outdoor furniture in a setting that encouraged conversation, discovery and a closer look at the materials, finishes and details that can often be lost when viewed on screen.
The industrial architecture of the former Max Brenner factory provided an equally fitting backdrop. Its warehouse character, open spaces and central courtyard created a relaxed environment where furniture and design could be experienced naturally rather than as part of a conventional exhibition stand.
Bringing the Sydney Design Community Together
At the heart of The Design Tribe was the opportunity to connect.
From morning coffee and pastries through to afternoon drinks, the day created space for conversations between designers, suppliers, creatives and other members of Sydney’s design industry.
Events like The Design Tribe offer something increasingly valuable: the chance to experience products in person, exchange ideas and strengthen the relationships that sit behind residential, commercial and hospitality projects.
SLH Furniture and Mamagreen were pleased to be part of the event alongside Molmic, Tappeti, Workspace Commercial Furniture, Skupa Furniture, Sima Chhetri Art, Stoked Stainless, Raffles Textiles, In The Sac, LightCo Australia and other members of the local design community.
An Inspiring Presentation from ReLove
One of the highlights of the day was a special presentation from ReLove, sharing the organisation’s work giving quality furniture and household items a second life while supporting people rebuilding their homes and lives.
The presentation offered an important perspective on the role furniture can play beyond aesthetics and function, highlighting the value of reuse and the positive impact the design and furniture industries can make within the wider community.

SLH Furniture and Mamagreen at The Design Tribe
For SLH Furniture, The Design Tribe was an opportunity to share its approach to contemporary furniture with Sydney’s trade community, bringing together pieces selected for their materiality, craftsmanship and lasting design.
Alongside SLH, Mamagreen Australia showcased outdoor furniture created for residential, commercial and hospitality environments. Designed around durable materials, customisation and year-round outdoor living, Mamagreen’s collections reflect an approach particularly suited to the Australian climate and the way outdoor spaces are used.
Together, the two brands offered a look at furniture across both interior and exterior environments while providing designers with the opportunity to discuss products, finishes, customisation and upcoming projects directly with the team.
