Tresna is an Indonesian design studio founded in 2018 by architect Faraj Achmad & Australian product designer Duane Franklin.
This has expanded to incorporate a number of like-minded designers developing and manufacturing furniture in-house.
The ethos is to create products with minimalist Javanese aesthetics utilising local materials wherever possible. Simple clean designs which are timeless, functional and comfortable. The teak is locally sourced plantation timber with SVLK certification.
Rattan is also locally sourced, and the timber topcoats are water-based, being environmentally friendly, whilst reducing the carbon footprint wherever possible. Most products are hand-finished using traditional Javanese techniques.
The finishing aims to display the design form and natural beauty of timber grain with natural colour and sheen being evident. Nature's unique characteristics and imperfections are showcased in the collections from grain variation and colour to knots and other natural imperfections that are inherent in solid wood. The end result is authentic products that evoke charm, character and depth.
