Project Showcase: Styling Luxurious Eco-Friendly Chalets in the Blue Mountains
The Client:
Situated next to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park, Chalets at Blackheath is described by General Manager Angela O’Connell as being “designed for the eco-conscious traveller without compromising on style, luxury, or comfort.”
The Brief:
Provide environmentally friendly furniture each of their four brand new freestanding studio chalets. As noted above, design elements and furnishings must provide ultimate luxury and comfort while maintaining sustainability as a core feature.
Process:
The design of the chalets was made by Mina Staples and with the assistance of our team we were able to narrow down a selection of six products that work well with the local environment and vibe of the resort while maintaining an eco-friendly presence.
For the outdoor patio area we were able offer customized lounges by Mamagreen that would fit with the outdoors colour profile as well as make a welcoming space into the chalet.
The Selected Pieces:
After considering client needs and the type of experience guests would like to have at Chalets at Blackheath, we settled on six statement pieces for each private lodging. Each piece fits well with the venue's sustainable ethos while also providing ultimate luxury for the end user.
Koppar Light King Bed - FSC Certified Teak
Chosen for its luxurious appeal and sustainable construction, the Koppar Light King Bed is part of a highly anticipated range from Karpenter. Delicate copper finishes paired with an intricate, raw wood design elevate this piece and allow it to blend perfectly with the natural tones of the living space.
Vintage Tripod Coffee Table - FSC Recycled Teak
Selected for its vintage design and natural teak timber tones the table blends in the room by adding a sense of timeless presence. The triangular shape of the table adds a lovely flow from the natural surroundings to each chalet's private oasis.
Click Outdoor Dining Chair (Olive Green)
Featuring a stunning olive green colour and ergonomic design, the Click Outdoor Dining Chairs selected for this project work to provide a modern twist to the outdoor area as well as a comfortable place to enjoy the Blue Mountains fresh air. Crafted from a powder-coated grey metal frame with bamboo timber armrests and recycled plastic lamellas, these chairs place a focus on long-lasting quality.
Circle Outdoor Dining Table 150cm
Rounding out our product selection for this project, we have a beautiful 150cm Circle Outdoor Dining Table by HOUE. Crafted with both social and environmental impact in mind. The bamboo is the most sustainable source of timber as it can grow up to a meter a day.
Custom Aiko Outdoor Lounge
This lounge was chosen as it is a seamless addition to the chalet’s outdoor patio. The piece was customized in a black timber and a dark green fabric as a reflection of the bush area and the dark exterior of the chalets.
